I have assembled a list of several helpful Bible study tools I have used personally or have had friends rave about. Given there are thousands of resources available I may not have included one of your favorites so if there's a resource you think will benefit our community send me a note (ron@biblestudydaily.org).
Bibles
There are dozens of great Bible translations available to us today, and a myriad of options for size, type, color, and a variety of other features. The best Bible for you is the one that you will read.
Surveys
Bible surveys are books that provide an overview of a number of Bible books. They are often divided between Old Testament and New Testament.
Commentaries
Commentaries are probably what I use the most in study. I almost always have one alongside me when I am reading the Bible. There's a lot of variety in types and styles, and the amount of detail, but don't let that intimidate you, commentaries will accelerate your study.
Dictionaries
Let's face it there are a lot of places and terms in the Bible that are unfamiliar to us. A Bible dictionary can be a great help in your study.
Software
There are dozens if not hundreds of good software programs that can enhance your study of the Bible. Some are free and some cost several thousand dollars. Using Bible software has a lot of advantages so, when you are ready, spend some time looking for a product that will meet your needs.
Theology
Books on theology are a real mixed bag. Most are excellent, but occasionally you'll run across one that was written by someone who takes an unusual position. My recommendation - stick to books written by recognized scholars and you'll be fine.
